Mitchell's Miscellany

I like music, film, videogames. Tea and coffee are my two vices. Failed photographer, struggling author, better than average pianist, and a self-proclaimed intellect.

Didn’t watch that much in February…

2/2/12 - Unforgiven 9/10

  • Eastwood directing and acting. Good Western and acting from Hackman and Freeman

5/2/12 - Bronson 6.5/10

  • Story a bit weak (though it is a character study more than anything), and a little boring in places. Hardy was good though

6/2/12 - Army of Darkness 7.5/10

  • Not sure why I watched this instead of Evil Dead 1 or 2. Funny, great one liners.

7/2/12 - Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 6/10

  • Not as funny as I thought it would be. Quite slow

8/2/12 - Oldboy 9/10

  • Great, tense, Korean thriller. Felt sorry for all the characters. DAT OCTOPUS EATING SCENE

9/2/12 - Blood Diamond 7.5/10

  • Good action film, with an interesting semi-political plot. Suffers from Hollywood cheese and over sentimentality.

9/2/12 - Sin City 7/10

  • Stories were hit and miss. Bit too much style over substance though. Some of the CGI just looked plain out of place.

12/2/12- Ocean’s Eleven - 7/10

  • Slick, fun, and cool. Great ensemble cast.

15/2/12 - The Muppets 8/10

  • It’s the Muppets. Funny, nostalgic, charming, great songs etc. Love love loved it.

19/2/12 - Falling Down 8/10

  • Black comedy. Thoroughly enjoyed it and felt completely sympathetic for the lead.

23/2/12 - Tyranosaur 10/10

  • This should have been nominated for many Oscars, especially Coleman. Fantastic debut from Paddy Considine. Emotional and tough.

25/2/12 - Hard Candy 6.5/10

  • Not as tough as I thought it would be. A little dull in places, though good interaction between the two leads.

26/2/12 - Silence of the Lambs 10/10

  • Fantastic. Hopkins and Foster are great. Tense etc

26/2/12 - Captain America 7.5/10

  • Much better than I thought it would be. Tied with Iron Man 2 as best film in the whole Avengers universe.

28/2/12 - Bridesmaids 7/10

  • Pleasantly surprised. Like a female Hangover, but much funnier.

28/2/12  -Salo Arthouseshit/10

  • Just, don’t watch it. It isn’t a bad film by any means; just a bit grim.

29/2/12 - The Devil Wears Prada 7/10

  • Witty and charming. I want to work in fashion now. Clothes were gorgeous to look at.
